Crawfish Fun

Every year for Easter Sunday our family (my parents) host a crawfish boil. If you don't know what crawfish are, you are seriously missing out on some of the little mud bugs ever!!!

This year was no different, we had crawfish, and lots of friends and family over to enjoy it with us!!

Words don't explain how much fun we have, but if you are ever in town for Easter, come on by!!

Last year and this year my cousin and her daughter came into town to celebrate and feast with us, and this year they came back, next year we are hoping they bring a few more relatives with them. We truly have so much fun!! My dad and mom moved to Texas before my sister and I were born, the rest of our family is in New York. We may not see each other often, but when we do, it is like not a day has passed since the last time!! Great memories and I am so glad that we will be sharing them with all our kids as they grow up too!! We are also very lucky that two of my dad's siblings have also been fortunate enough to be able to make the trip as well!! We love Aunt Paula and Uncle Dave so much, they are really like second parents to all of us!!

One lone little guy trying to escape.

Ready to eat.

Those creepy little guys are tasty!!

Jay chowing down...AJ is allergic, and we have to wait a bit longer to see if Jenna will be able to try them or not. Poor kiddos, they really missed out, Jay ate his weight in mudbugs that day!!

My turn, although I promise you I did NOT eat my weight in mud bugs!!

The Three Amigos:)
Uncle Dave, Aunt Paula, and My Daddy:)

Dad and the neighbor, they are good friends and always greet each other by saying
"How's my brother from another mother?"
While they giggle and shake hands and hug, really even if they see each other every day!!
We are so lucky to have had such wonderful neighbors growing up.
They really were just like family.

Last but not least is the birthday boy taking a picture of someone taking a picture of him!! Nathan, the birthday boy and I have been friends since 6th grade, and Jeff, the guy in the white hat and I have been friends since 3rd grade!!

Weird, Random, Megan-isms

Just what you have always wanted, a long list of random weird facts about moi!!

  • If there is a scale in my vicinity, I must step on it. Multiple times to see how different the number is each time.
  • This includes in restrooms, where I will stand on it, pee, and then stand back on it to see how much I peed. I will be totally irritated if the after number is bigger than the before number!!
  • I have a fear that I will be sitting there in the restroom, and the door will open, for all to see. A bit of OCD comes out as I will walk in, shut the door, lock the door, then turn on the light before I proceed. If it all happens to fast, I am very worried the door will fly open.
  • People at work realize my germaphobic tendencies to the point that they will call me to let me know when vendors bring in snacks so that I will be the first one to get some. That way no one has breathed on it, and no one has touched it:) The receptionist will call me and tell me "There are doughnuts in the break room, and no one has breathed on them yet"
  • I refuse to go into the restroom if someone has sprayed air freshener.
  • I have a lot of issues with public or even semi-public restrooms.
  • My twelve year old brother is taller than me, my fourteen year old brother passed me up about 3 years ago.
  • I can not cook dinner in a messy kitchen.
  • It bothers me to know there are dirty dishes in the dishwasher, I will run it with even one glass.
  • Hair grosses me out, even my own, to the point that when I see loose hair I will gag.
  • Running is relaxing to me.

I am sure there is more, but for fear of scaring you away, I will leave them for later:)

It's that time again...

Another rendition of things mothers of boys say;

Please get your cup off the kitchen counter. (not the kind you drink out of, think sports)

No you may not go hunt squirrel for dinner.

No I have not eaten a squirrel or a raccoon or a possum.

Stop teasing your sister with lizards.

No we will not raise crawfish and sell them.

You do not have to eat that just because your brother dared you to.

one day at a time...

Do you ever feel like you are spinning and going and there is no end in sight? Like one thing after another things continue to spin out of control and there is nothing you can do or say to make them slow down, let alone stop? Don't get me wrong, there could be so much more wrong or out of my grasp than there is, but really, do we have to keep going this way? I feel like I need a mountain to climb, or a beach to go sit on, a lake to float in, something, somewhere out in the middle of nowhere to sit and do nothing!!
